About Live-N-Learn Ltd

Live-N-Learn started up in 2006, aiming to build confidence in young people. We offer workshops for  pupils aged 5 to 18, with accompanying staff development sessions and parental seminars.

The majority of our courses work directly with the students, supporting vital areas, such as Study Skills, Options, Enterprise, Health, Transition and Inductions. Ultimately, we build confidence and raise aspirations, but also encourage students to take personal responsibilty, adopt a growth mindset and develop their resilience.

Having designed and delivered programmes for every local authority in Scotland, word has now spread to hundreds of schools throughout the UK, where we have recently opened our new regional office in Surrey.

Our workshops are customised to each schools specific objectives and challenges. Every school is unique, therefore our delivery compliments the good work already taking place. Visit what makes us different to compare us to other providers.

Alan Black

AlanAlan worked in 3 Glasgow secondary schools for 17 years as a Maths and Pastoral Care Teacher. His life took a different direction when he formed Live-N-Learn in 2006 along with Scott Goddard.

"I felt there was a need for motivational workshops that were grittier and more practical. Making students laugh and feel great about themselves for a couple of hours was not enough. Resilience and sustainability has to be part of the package. I am proud that we manage to deliver all of these elements".

Having not made it as a rock star (yet!), he is keen on playing the guitar and harangues his own children to do likewise. Alan has a great sense of humour, best demonstrated through his ownership of a season ticket with Partick Thistle FC.

Scott Goddard

ScottScott qualified as a Primary School Teacher and spent a number of years teaching in Edinburgh and the South of England, working with children at all stages of Primary development and gaining valuable knowledge of the curriculum in both England and Scotland.

In 2001, Scott joined a UK training company where he enjoyed presenting to young people in schools and colleges throughout the UK. He was then promoted to Training Manager in England and was responsible for the recruitment, management and training of staff who were delivering training to English secondary schools.

Scott excels in his ability to motivate and to organise. This is evident both in his professional life as a manager, and in his spare time where he is heavily involved as a volunteer for the Scout Association. As Assistant Area Commissioner for Scouts, he has supported over 200 adult leaders in Edinburgh by organising events for young people and training courses for adults. Scott often spends his summer holidays leading young people in residential experiences in the UK and abroad.

Peter Hamilton

PeterFor over 8 years Peter has worked directly with upwards of 1000 primary and secondary schools throughout the UK, aiming to increase achievement and attainment levels by building confidence in young people.

With an IT background in software development and a creative flair, Peter manages our website, database and marketing activities, ensuring schools only receive information from Live-N-Learn that is relevant to their own objectives. Peter has a strategic and analytical mind, and has created a number of measurable evaluation tools for evaluating the impact and value of utilising external providers within schools.

As a bit of a numbers geek, he spends far too much time watching Countdown (he has it on Sky+ series link). He is also in a local darts team and regularly plays badminton, football and snooker. Weather permitting, he spends many a weekend at the coast captaining a 37 foot cruiser.
